In the summer of 2018 Mariam and I started talking about the possibility of going on a vacation in the upcoming winter. She was feeling pretty good but thought it best that we look for an all-inclusive resort, which would make things a lot easier and convenient for her. We’ve enjoyed a few all-inclusives on Mexico’s west coast, so I suggested Puerto Vallarta — which we had not yet visited.
We had not seen my brother Al for a while, so we asked him if he’d like to join us. He said yes and flew down a few days after us.
I set up a bunch of tours including an island tour with snorkelling, a city tour of Puerto Vallarta, an ATV tour for me and Al, a ”swim with the dolphins” tour and a tequilla tour where we went up the coast to a tequilla distillery.
The day me and Al went on the ATV tour Mariam decided she wanted to go into town and do some shopping. The town was around 5 km’s from our resort. She took the public bus and spent the day buying souvenirs for people back home. We met her in town and then had a nice dinner at an ocean-side restaurant …

A real highlight of this trip was swimming with the dolphins — something we had never done before. They were very well-trained and Mariam really enjoyed interacting with them …
Mariam had a great time on the trip. It took her mind off of her health issues and she got a chance to just relax and enjoy the hot, sunny weather.
